Quality of life and its relationship to some mental health indicators among amputees due to the war in Libya

The study aimed to identify the following: 1- The level of (quality of life - body image - psychological security - Psychological Rigidity) 2- The relationship between quality of life and each of (body image - psychological security - Psychological Rigidity)2- The relationship between quality of life and (body image - psychological security -Psychological Rigidity)3. Whether there are differences between members of the study sample in the levels of (quality of life, body image, psychological security, Psychological Rigidity) according to the variables (age group – educational level - type of amputation - marital status)The qualitative descriptive approach (correlational and comparative) was used.The sample consisted of the total number of amputees due to the war in Libya (who were registered with the Ministry of Wounded, Martyrs and Missing Persons) in the city of Benghazi during the year (2023).It was applied to (80) individuals whose limbs were partially or completely amputated.The study used the Quality of Life Scale, the abbreviated form of the World Health Organization (1996), Arabization and codification by Bsharri, Ismail Ahmed (2013), the Body Image Scale by Choucair (2002), the Psychological Security Scale by Al-Najjar (2012), and the Psychological Rigidity Scale by Al-Rifai (2020).The results showed the following:1- The study sample members enjoyed a high level of quality of life, psychological security and Psychological Rigidity 2- The sample members are somewhat satisfied with their body image.3- There is a significant positive correlation between the study variables (quality of life, psychological security, and Psychological Rigidity) among the study sample. 4- There is a negative correlation between (body image) and the study variables (quality of life, psychological security, and Psychological Rigidity) The results of the study did not show any statistically significant differences between the members of the study sample in the levels of (quality of life, body image, psychological security, and Psychological Rigidity due to the variables of (age group - educational level - type of amputation - marital status). Anumber of recommendations and proposals were reached.
