Abstract

Women's clothing at the beginning of the Islamic state was simple and limited, but since the end of the Umayyad state and the beginning of the Abbasid Caliphate, clothing has evolved in terms of type and quality. It was natural, in light of this civilizational development that has encompassed Islamic countries, that clothing should develop to become an indication of what Muslims have achieved in terms of quality. The peak of luxury and extravagance at its highest levels, which began clearly in the period of the Abbasid Caliphate and the Persians’ control over the systems of life at that time.

The first Abbasid era was one of the most important historical eras that occupied many researchers and scholars, to understand every detail of this era, the era of cultural prosperity for the most important and greatest state at that time, and the accompanying development in women’s clothing and adornment as a result of the expansion of the Islamic State. The multiplicity of its peoples that came under Islamic rule had a role and impact on women’s clothing and adornment.
