Spatial Assessment of the Suitability of Educational Services in Zintan: A Study Using Geographic Information Systems

They are the basic educational services for any society, as the education sector is one of the most important for the basics of society, and its levels can be created from it. This research deals with studying the reality of basic and secondary educational services within the city of Zintan in terms of the suitability of the geographical location in relation to student housing. It is known that choosing the site on which the school is built must be subject to a number of planning standards adopted by the Urban Planning Department, but unfortunately many of the sites Schools do not meet these standards, and this is the reality of many Libyan cities, and the city of Zintan is one of them, and from here came the idea of this study. The research aims to build a cartographic model of school locations in the study area for the purpose of evaluating current locations using modern technology represented by geographic information systems, in order to identify deficiencies in the distribution of these services, and attempt to find appropriate solutions for them in accordance with planning standards. In this study, the researcher relied on the descriptive and analytical approach to study the distribution of educational services within the study area, in order to give an idea of the current situation of schools and identify the problems that these schools suffer from, in addition to the applied analytical approach represented by the use of geographic information systems technology in order to Obtaining accurate results in a fairly short time, due to the accuracy and speed of this technology in dealing with large spatial data. In the end, the researcher reached a number of results, which represent the problems that educational services suffer from in the city. The researcher also touched on a number of recommendations that, if taken by the authorities responsible for decision-making, would reduce the shortcomings occurring in educational services within the city.
